"WHO ARE WE? WHO ARE YOU? WHO DO YOU WANT TO BECOME? THAT'S WHAT THIS COLLECTION IS ABOUT. SOMETIMES IT'S NOT THE DESTINATION, BUT THE PROCESS OF GETTING THERE. LET THIS RESORT WEAR COLLECTION TAKE YOU ON A FREEING JOURNEY. STEP OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE WHILE YOU EMBRACE THE GRAND, BEAUTIFUL, AND DIFFERENT CULTURES AROUND YOU. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY BECOME , WHO YOU WANT TO BE IN THESE CLOTHES, EVEN IF IT'S JUST FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

The spark of inspiration started at the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain which was a historical palace from the Moore-empire in Spain. Inside the building I found tons of carvings in organic floral and Arabic prayer and poem designs a long with geometric tiles. The balance between clean cut and organic shapes was what I wanted to translate to my garments. While in Morocco I found similar designs in religious buildings and schools with vibrant colors of blues, greens, yellows, etc. After exploring the Souks I wanted to incorporate the vibrant colors I was constantly surrounded by which is how I came up with the watercolor flower pattern that shows through the geometric design on my garment.

By combining a deep blue with a white and peach geometric overlay, I was able to produce the deep gradient plum color. To balance the geometric design I used an organic styled mandala engineered at the neckline and center back.

The laser cut overlay was inspired by an intricate geometric white metal gate that I found inside of a sacred building in Morocco. The printed fabric beneath was a marble tile which a manipulated on illustrator to make it my own. I followed this by enhancing the colors to match the vibrancy of textiles I found there.

The sapphire fabric is a depiction of a wall found in the city of Chefchaouen. The entire city is painted in various shades of blue giving off a mystical and calming experience while roaming the streets. The yellow motifs are actual photos of a gold gilded door mirrored on itself to create the little gem. At the hem of the pant is a photo I took of a carving from a religious boys school in the heart of Marrakech. Inscribed is a prayer in Arabic.

Beneath the chiffon is another blue fabric inspired by the walls of Chefchaouen. Stretched across the fabric is a black intertwining design that appears to look like branches. In reality it is actually a street map of the city of Marrakech. While traveling to the desert I passed through the Valley of Roses. The vibrant pink flowers are wild roses that are found here. Lastly, the trim is my henna which I received my final day in Morocco that stained my skin to a beautiful burgundy pattern.

The deep indigo fabric was inspired by the color of night sky after watching the sun go down while sitting on dunes in the Sahara Desert. The flashes of gold symbolize the blazing sun that rose the next morning to warm our skin as we rode camels across the sand. The laser cut silver shantung is a design I created that represents the hand made intricate metal lamps I saw being hammered right in front of me while exploring the streets of Moroccan markets.
